Why can’t I save or export files on my Mac after adjusting a photo’s file permissions?

I recently downloaded a photo from email to my mack book pro desktop. I wanted to share it with someone else as an email attachments, but first put the jpeg in "read only" mode, then sent it. After this, I am not able to drag any of my photos in my photos files to my mac book pro desktop. I also can't save any word documents after I have added some new text to them. For WORD, the error message says: "word can't complete due to a file permission error." For the photo issue the error message says: "the export option failed to create a file for the photo identified below."

I was able to do all of these things before I downloaded the reference photo and changed its setting. Any advice or help is appreciated

I have found a solution to my problem by speaking with Apple support via phone. Here is the solution for anyone who ends up with a similar problem:

Go to Finder and click on folder that you are having problems with (in this case it was the desktop because whenever i tried to drag something (photos, media, word docs, etc.) to it I got various permission errors). Click on three dots and select "Get info". Then unlock the lock. Then change permissions for admin to "read and write". Then lock. This fixed my problem. Thanks to apple phone support!

Dear "Moderator". I wonder if it might be better for you to recharacterized my query title as simply "File permssions problems on mac book pro"? Your changing my title application focus to "Photos" is not getting me enough help. I see that others have had this issue in other catetories. For instance, see this post from 9/2022 until the category "Earlier applications", where the person says: "Every time I download a file, I can't move it or copy it anywhere, I need to do right click -> get info and update all permissions to read/write to be able to do anything with it. If I open an archive it gets worse and I have to update each file's permissions one by one."

In my case, even when I try to reset the permissions on each file, I am still not able to move or save new documents or anything.

Any help or suggestions you may have are appreciated. Thank You.
