iPhone 12 Pro stopped sending RCS messages to Android phone

This has happened before, and I fixed it, and can't remember how. I have iPhone 12 pro, my husband has an android. The RCS messages have worked between us since the update for it came out. It shows me when hes read my message and when he is typing. I got impatient with a text today and held the bubble to "send as text message." Dumb. Now all his messages are coming in RCS and mine are going out SMS. It is only happening with him, and only since I sent that one SMS message. I don't remember how to make it go back. Yes my carrier is compatible. Yes I have checked my networked settings just in case. Help lol.
