does amazon apple store sell fake air tags?

I bought an air tag about year ago at the Apple Store and it works perfectly fine, so when I saw on Amazon that the Apple Store was selling for 80 for four AirTags I decided to buy it but when I received it the inside where the battery goes looks different to my older AirTag. I was wondering if Apple changed the design or if I bought fake ones? ( new one is on the left and old ones is right side)

Then …

… if the packaging was “Apple Quality” (i.e. VERY high quality, often w/ folded tissue paper, well-glued all-around, AND sealed with Apple’s unique clear-plastic / green-tab tamper-evident seal(s) …

… AND the tags had their “Remove before use” tabs inserted in the battery section …

… AND they activate normally …

… AND work normally in FindMy when they are NOT near any of your own devices (but ARE near other iPhones) …

… they’re probably genuine.

Was the purchase directly FROM Amazon, or from one of the many Amazon Reseller storefronts?

Storefronts might indeed tend to have more counterfeits; but it’s impossible for sure to tell simply from your pictures alone. [although IMO the printing of the small lettering DOES appear sketchy; although that might also just be artifacts of your iPhone’s (presumably) image processing and the low lighting levels]

i.e. was this a normal change by Apple or evidence of counterfeiting … ???
