iMessage stopped transcribing audio messages in Spanish

I made my girlfriend change to iMessage from WhatsApp because iMessage was automatically transcribing my audio messages from her in Spanish. It was great because I could read it while listening, and could even copy it if I wanted to put it into a translator app. Today, it's just gone. No more transcriptions and I didn't change anything. Why would this happen? It's very frustrating and unclear for users, especially after having made a case to use your product and buy your hardware, Apple. Disappointing.

I had to turn off Siri and Apple intelligence on both my iPhone and Mac and reboot them simultaneously. It's working again. It will now transcribe in both English and Spanish, like it was doing. I'm going to leave this here so others know how to fix it if it happens. Or maybe Siri was sleeping. Thanks for wasting that hour of my life and freaking me out :(

Also, while I'm here... I changed my audio messages to be kept for 30 days, but it seems to act weird with my Mac. I use both a new Mac and new iPhone with messages at the same time and use Cloud sync. I have Siri enabled to do messages, blah blah blah. It was working and I didn't change anything. You need to make it easier for users to understand how these things work, and properly support something so basic as your messaging app between your phone and computer platforms. It should be very easy for users to keep messages, have them show up on both devices, and transcribe them if they want, yes or no. Keep it simple and keep it bug-free. I think you have enough revenue to make this happen : |
