How do I identify an unknown Apple Maps icon?
Looking for a list of Apple map icons, there is one I don’t recognize.

I have no clue what that map app is, but it's not from Apple. We can't see your phone and know what apps you've downloaded on it. You asked for the Apple Maps icon and I gave you a link to the ONLY official one from Apple. I don't know how you think we could guess what it is you just posted, but we certainly can't.

Perhaps that sign indicates portions section of Trans Canada Highway.
As roads go, Highway 1 is known as T.C.H. and quick searches online
may help narrow this down somewhat. One I found suggests route1
goes through a 'Southern Interior' area.
The map attached shows reference areas with 'initialed Tabs' and
Highway 1 appears in Tab 2 (SIR) and in (LM) yet again (VI) regions.

Vancouver Island seens further west/south in your reference.
The scenic route along the western BC might also be included. Hwy 2?
I've driven through CA both ways a few times since 1960; last time to
AK from WA in 1995. I don't get out much; after passport requirement.

These pages are helpful to have with internet access as a road reference.
In the pages are exact road references, including Ferry routes for Canada.
Not sure if this helps. Most my travels are without electronic devices; and
I learned how to use Map and Compass orientation ~ to know where I am.
The [SIR] in BC highways site shows those routes, with images from road cams.

And that means Southern Interior; while that northerly one shows a Hwy 2, most
others along southern section, are Hwy1 ~ unless otherwise marked on BC map.
Watson Lake..
.While I've been at the junction in person; thread author indicates in question.
..All these details with specific roads, are covered and linked in earlier thread..
This IS the official Apple Maps App --> https://apps.apple.com/us/app/apple-maps/id915056765
May helpful at all.
Just looks like a highway number similar to:
Where do you live?
Could it imply Hwy 1 Scenic Route?
The sign is like that in Canada, and then it changes once you enter Alaska. But same highway.
Traveling along the Alaska Highway, Highway 97.
