Turning off all parental-style restrictions including ApplePhotos’s censoring

ApplePhotos has an option to highlight the subject of the photo and isolate it from the background.

There’s a restriction built into the software that automatically forbids this feature when genitalia is present.

What information is Photos automatically gathering from my library and how can I turn this and every similar feature off?

Review the information here about the Sensitive Content Warning that will blur photos. It uses on device processing, so no Apple does not have any information about your photos. It has nothing to do with Apple Intelligence and was a feature released in iOS 17.

Thanks, but alas no. You *can* disable parents controls from that option, but this is embedded in the operating code, and unfortunately doesn’t turn off when that feature is off… :/

FWIW, I also have Apple Intelligence turned off. This is related to the image keyword search built into ApplePhotos. You can search Apple and every photo of an apple appears? This flags nudity in the backend and triggers normally unseen censorship prompts. Not a fan…

Thank you, Jim. It’s good to know the personal information stays local, but I do not have Sensitive Content Warning turned on.

This looks to be a default turned on in the back-end.

For example, when you use the new function “Clean Up” on a photo, the feature will recognize text and blur the text instead of removing it like the feature does for all other instances. This is automatically recognizing nudity and restricts usage of certain features…
