USB-C Port next to charging port randomly disconnects External Drive on MacBook Pro M2 (2023)
I’m experiencing an issue with the USB-C port on my 2023 14-inch MacBook Pro (M2 chip) — specifically the port closest to the MagSafe charging port. When I connect an external SSD or USB-C drive to that port, it occasionally disconnects or unmounts without warning. The same happens sometimes when my monitor is attached to that port.
The same drive works perfectly when plugged into the other USB-C ports, so I don’t believe the drive or cable is at fault. I’ve confirmed the macOS is up to date, but the issue persists.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Could it be a hardware problem with that specific port, or is there something I can try to troubleshoot further?
