How to prevent a disabled daughter with cognitive impairments from excessive phone calls and texts on iPhone?

My daughter is 38 years old with about a 3 year old mentality due a brain tumor, hydrocephalus and strokes. She is obsessed with calling and texting people all hours of the day and night. We obviously can't let this continue. Her most recent stroke was just a few weeks ago and it has had a significant affect on her. She is no where near the girl we used to have. So easily confused and forgetful. Any suggestions?

Isn't this what Screen Time controls are for?

Settings -> Screen Time

Screen Time allow you to set 'downtime' hours where calls and messages are restricted to a specific set of contacts.

It only applies to apps that honor Screen Time (e.g. phone calls, Messages, FaceTime) and may not apply to third party apps (e.g. Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.), so it may or may not work for this specific situation.

In addition, since she's over 18, she technically has the ability to set this herself (or turn it off), which contrasts to a child in an Apple Family account where the parent/guardian can set limits for minors.

🤦🏼‍♂️ I imagine Screentime would work. I don’t know what I was thinking of. Maybe I was thinking of a feature that could completely disable or micro manage texting and calling, or a device that doesn’t allow it. Either way, thanks for pointing it out.

I am so sorry for what you are going thru. And sadly, I do not see an option other than putting the phone in Airplane mode at night. But the concern would be that she would figure it out and turn it back on.

Question: Does she need the ability to call and send texts? If not, you could buy a used iPod touch 7 for her. It can play music, movies, television shows, audiobooks, and podcasts and can sort its media library by songs, artists, albums, videos, playlistsgenres, composers, podcasts, audiobooks, and compilations. It cannot make calls or send texts. You would have to purchase it used on Amazon or eBay and make sure it opens to the Hello screen so you can log in to your or her Apple account. Maybe make that her "Phone" during certain hours. Or replace it altogether. It would give her a lot to play with, without disturbing others with calls and texts? My toddler grandkids loved that device! I'm just looking for "out of the box" ideas here.
