why would my MacBook Air 2022 use 1000+ GB data

Using Starlink while traveling. On previous trips with same devices and similar usage, I used just over 50GB data in a month. The most recent trip, usage shot up to over 200 GB, including my MacBook Air 2022 using 16GB data while in sleep mode.
