Can I refine Apple Maps destination on CarPlay touch screen?

Wireless CarPlay and Apple Maps works in my car.

I can use the button on the steering wheel to invoke Sire and 'Navigate to a destination' but then should I be able to touch on the screen (it is a touch screen) to refine the destination? Sometimes the location is correct but not precise enough for say a car park entrance so needs a nudge.

I know I can use my iPhone to do this but at this point it usually in my pocket.

It maybe a limitation of the car or is it Apple Maps and CarPlay that is not working as I'd like?
