New keyboard for new 2025 ipad pairs but does not function

OK, I have been using ipads for 10 years and finally decided to buy an external keyboard for my new one, 11 inch, A 16 chip. The keyboard is this one: Harvopu, Compatible for iPad 11th 10th Generation Case with Keyboard, Folio Cover with Pencil Holder, Multi-Touch Trackpad, 7 Color Backlit, Detachable Keyboard for iPad (A16) 11th/10th Gen. Pairing was successful, keyboard lights came on fine. But it is totally unresponsive. Forgive me for asking a really stupid sounding question, but do I need a mouse to get it to function, as with a full sized laptop? I have tried the touchpad, but that doesn’t do anything either. I restarted the ipad too, but it didn’t help.


What am I doing wrong?? This is so frustrating.
