iPad 11th Gen drains battery faster before the iPadOS 18.5 update

My newly bought iPad A16 from 31st of May came with the iPadOS 18.2, its battery was amazing. I don’t use my iPad for heavy tasks so it usually lasts me at least a day. 2 days ago, my iPad automatically updated to the iPadOS 18.5. I’ve noticed that the battery drains way more faster than it did on iPadOS 18.2. Even with just light browsing (safari, pinterest), it drains way more faster than it should. Oh my gosh. As I was typing, my battery rapidly went from 70 percent to 68. Does the battery get better days after the update? or do I just live with this.

It is perfectly normal for your iPad to use more battery power than usual following a system software update.

Your iPad will continue to run additional background housekeeping processes after the update process has seemingly concluded - such as re-indexing the iPad's file system - which will obviously require power to be drawn from the iPad's battery while these processes are finished.

Your iPad's battery typical pattern of utilisation should return to your expected norm after a few days. Leaving your iPad connected to its Power Adapter may help to complete the process more quickly. Your iPad and its battery will come to no harm whatsoever if left charging for an extended period; the iPad will automatically regulate battery charging and will not over-charge.
