How do I get my MacBook Air to recognise my Acer SD Card reader?

My macbook air is not recognising my ACER SD to USC Card reader accessory. Do I need a specific Apple SD to USC Card reader?

Do you have a card in the reader?

On Mac the radars themselves don't appear in Finder or the Desktop. Once a card is inserted and can be accessed by the Mac it should appear there.

If the card has an unknown format but can be detected it may only appear in Disk Utility.

Outside of that, how are you connecting the reader to the Mac? Is it a USB-C reader (direct connection) or are you using an adapter?
