iPhone XR Unavailable Due to Ghost Touch — Can I Fix Without Factory Reset?

Hi, I need help with my iPhone XR.

The screen is damaged and it’s experiencing ghost touch — it taps on its own and accidentally entered the wrong passcode multiple times. Now my iPhone shows “iPhone Unavailable”.

I still remember my Apple ID, iCloud password, and the correct screen passcode.

I really need the data inside the phone. There are so many important memories and personal moments stored in it — photos, videos, notes, and chats that I don’t have backed up anywhere else.

Is there any way to recover access or fix this without doing a factory reset or erase?

I would deeply appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you so much!

If your iPhone is Unavailable, you will need to erase it to set it up again with a new passcode. Unfortunately if you didn't have a backup in place beforehand, you would be losing all your data and content. Sorry but that's why you want backups before disaster occurs, so you can restore it in this case.

Even if you were to erase and restore your iPhone, it wouldn't fix the ghost touches that caused this. Ghost touches are usually caused by a failing screen digitizer, the part under your iPhone's screen that registers touch. You would need to have that replaced at your nearest Apple Store's Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or if other service was necessary such as a failing battery could also cause this.
