Unfortunately, the legacy models (A1469 and earlier) do not support today’s version of iCloud anymore. iCloud has changed, but the software on these legacy devices hasn’t changed with that.

The actual 1st generation Apple TV from 2007 (the big 7.7" white box) never supported iCloud services. I assume you have a later model, though.
