How secure is an ergonomic keyboard without TouchID for iMac?

Because of wrist arthritis I have had to purchase an ergonomic keyboard which does not support TouchID. is this a major issue for me or will the new keyboard be safe enough?

The TouchID is only a way to sign in on your Mac when you boot up or come out of sleep. Now you'll have to type in your user name and password instead of using your thumbprint for ID.

There's no reduction in security if you don't have TouchID.

An alternative would be to have your TouchID key board off to the side and connected via USB cable and use it only for TouchID.

That’s pretty much every Mac and every Mac keyboard ever, prior to the advent of Touch ID keyboards with an Apple silicon Mac, and within the last few years. Or put another way, not a factor I’d be concerned about.

Usual security problems for most folks involve social engineering — phishing and myriad other scams, faked sending email addresses and faked sending text message numbers, sketchy or problematic or metadata-collecting apps with massive hype, password re-use and no two-factor — and not hardware implants within ergonomic keyboards.

Now if you work with sensitive or classified or military data, with access to immense wealth, are a political dissident, investigative reporter, senior in private or public entities, or deeply peeved somebody very rich, your security calculations here can shift.
