Request to Contact Previous Owner Due to Activation Lock on Used iPhone

Hello,

I recently purchased a used iPhone from a private seller, but when I tried to set it up, I discovered that it is locked with the previous owner’s Apple ID due to Activation Lock. It seems that “Find My iPhone” is still enabled on the device.

Unfortunately, I do not have any information about the previous owner — no phone number or email — so I cannot contact them to ask for the device to be unlocked.

Is there any way I could get the previous owner’s email address or phone number so I can reach out to them?

Alternatively, could you please forward my request to them on my behalf and ask them to remove the device from their iCloud account?

I would really appreciate any help you can provide in resolving this issue.

Kind regards,

Max

Nope. Contact the seller, if they can't or won't remove the Activation Lock, then you won't be able to.

Activation lock is precisely designed to prevent unauthorized access to a device that may have been stolen.

Apple will not assist in contacting anyone as that would be a horrible and unethical breach of privacy.

Would you like Apple to simply divulge your personal info to a random person that happens to have your device?
