Email passwords saved in Keychain / Passwords app? or not?

In the past, email passwords (other than iCloud email) were saved in Keychain. This was great for my clients who couldn't handle a password manager nor were good about updating their paper password lists.

Now, it seems that neither the Passwords System Setting in Sonoma nor the Passwords app in Sequoia save email passwords period ... unless I am missing something. They are also apparently not saved in any version of iOS or iPadOS.

I have a client with an Exchange address (from when GoDaddy stopped hosting their own email) and it is currently set up on an iPhone (current iOS), iPad (current iPadOS) and MacBook Pro (Sonoma) and yet, that password is saved absolutely nowhere on any of these devices. What good is a password manager if it indiscriminately saves only the passwords that it thinks are significant?

I'm a great advocate of 1password but even that app doesn't offer to save email passwords. Since that deep integration might be verboten, that is understandable but a system-level password manager as Apple is supposedly implementing should have all the accesses ... so where the <bleeeeeeep> are my email passwords!!!
