Is my iPad’s battery draining too fast?

My iPad 9th Generation on iPadOS 18.5 is draining 30% of my battery in only 90 minutes. This appears to be a faster than normal drain. My battery’s health is 97%. I took it in to the Apple Store and they suggested that I restore my iPad because Safari was draining the most battery. This didn’t seem to help. What would be the best thing to do next? Should I take it back in to the Apple Store? Should I replace it? What should I do?

They said to take it to the Apple Store. I should probably also mention that all other devices on the MDM at my school don’t have the battery drain.

And removing the MDM, re-testing, and determining if it’s something they’ve added is well within their control.

Once that’s completed, then it’s probably an Apple issue.

If the Apple Store indicated the battery was 97% and Safari was potentially an issue, I’d wonder if you’re using a graphics-intensive website such as a game, or encountering some rubbish on some website you’re using.

Is Safari the app that is still consuming battery resources after the backup and restore?

Any Safari browser extensions installed? If so, disable all, and test again.

If you’re getting ten minutes of video and twenty minutes of low-load websites, and no other activity else, and for a third of your current battery capacity, yes, that seems to imply some other issue.

Any other apps including add-on VPNs or add-on security apps potentially in use here? Those also require resources. Remove all, and test again.
