Send Later option unavailable for some iPhone contacts?

Why can I “send later” to only some iPhone users and not others? I can send to one of my daughters but I tried with my husband and one son and send later does not show as an option. It was the thing I was the most excited about when we bought our new 16 Pro Max phones last night. Please help!

“Send later” is a feature that applies to iMessages and emails. I assume you are referring to iMessages here.
A recipient’s device must be recognizable as an iMessage capable device. This may not happen, for example, if it’s been used in a group message context. Try composing a message to this one individual and be certain their address appears in the blue (iMessage) format.
