Can't share contact

I've shared contacts with other iPhone users lots of times, but I can't seem to share a contact with my wife. Today I opened a contact sheet in my iPhone Contacts app and tapped Share Contact. (By the way: My wife's iPad was right in front of me.) Next, I tapped to AirDrop the contact to my wife. The alert popped up on the iPad screen, and I tapped Accept. The contact sheet appeared on the iPad screen, and I tapped Save.

The contact did not appear in her Contacts app.

Well ... I repeated the whole process, except that this time I tapped Create New Contact, and then tapped Save.

Again, no joy.

Okay–y–y ... let's try sending the contact via iMessage. The message appeared in her Messages. I tapped the contact sheet and tapped Create New Contact. Again, nothing. What are we missing?

Thank you, Neil22R. The iPad’s software is up–to–date. I restarted the device and repeated my attempt to share a contact. The misbehavior persists.

I’ve reset the iPad and will try again. I’ll let you know what happens.

UPDATE—I reset the iPad (restored to factory settings), and I’m happy to report that the contact shared just like it’s supposed to! Now I’m happy. Thanks!

First, let's try restarting your iPad which can help with unexpected behavior like this.

Additionally, make sure your wife's iPad has the latest iPadOS installed which can also help.
