I think is number is a scam

Good morning Apple community I just got a stupid alarming text

It saying:transaction declined we noticed your Apple ID. was used at the “Apple Store.” for 1276.92 we suspect suspicious activities, Call+1 (*********to avoid charges

Good job in identifying and questioning that attempted scam.


Some key points in a scam:

  1. That message never mentioned you by name.
  2. That phone number directs you to a scammer who is (most likely) working in an organized scam call center in another country.
  3. You were not charged. Your contact details were provided to the scammers by privacy breaching services that you may have used.


That’s all the evidence you need to block, report and delete the message.


Again, good job in identifying that scam and questioning the message.


In closing:

If you receive a suspicious email or SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, please email it to reportphishing@apple.com. 
