Hi,

If a MacBook Pro's keyboard is unresponsive or frozen, try a few troubleshooting steps like a force restart (holding the power button) or resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), if your MacBook Pro is Intel based. If the issue persists, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Force Restart:

  • Locate the Power Button: On MacBook Pros with Touch ID, it's the Touch ID button.
  • Press and Hold: Press and hold the power button until the screen goes black. This can take up to 10 seconds.
  • Release and Restart: Release the power button and then press it again to turn the MacBook Pro back on.

2. Resetting the SMC: If your MacBook Pro has Intel Processor.

  • Shut down your Mac: Completely power it off.
  • Press and hold specific keys: Simultaneously press and hold the left Shift key, left Option key, and the right Control key for 7 seconds.
  • Add the power button: Continue holding those three keys, and then press and hold the power button for another 7 seconds.
  • Release all keys: After 7 seconds, release all keys and then turn your Mac back on.

3. Contact Apple Support:

  • If the issue continues:
  • If the keyboard remains unresponsive after trying the above steps, it's best to contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
  • Gather information:
  • Before contacting support, note down your MacBook Pro's model, the date of purchase, and any troubleshooting steps you've already taken.
