Iphone volume drops when phone is rotated or screen is touched
- iPhone 12 mini
- iOS 18.5 (was happening previously too)
- ATTENTION AWARENESS IS OFF
- Apps: Podcasts, Youtube
- No external headphones or speakers
- Silent mode is on (vibrates for notifications)
- Reduce loud audio is OFF
- Vocal Shortcuts are not set up
I notice the issue most when I am listening to podcasts at home or watching Youtube, using the iPhone's speaker. It doesn't seem to happen all the time and i can't reliably reproduce the issue, but I'll grab the phone, touch it or rotate the phone, and as a result the screen will wake up.
The iPhone's volume suddenly drops A LOT almost to minimum. I crank up the volume to compensate, but even if I crank it up to max volume, it's still pretty quiet. After a few minutes, the volume returns gradually to normal. I then have to turn the volume back down because it's so loud (because it's at max level at this point).
It's driving me crazy!
The phone may be on the side and as i pick it up the volume drops. It does not seem to be linked to notifications.
I can't correlate it to notifications. The problem seems to happen when I touch the phone to wake it, not when a notification comes in.
I have a simple case on my phone, but it happens without the case. I don't think this is a physical button issue. The volume buttons are not being pressed.
Any pointers would be appreciated
