Get rid of specific AirTag notification

Hi there, so last winter, my partner got his wallet nabbed in Chicago. Luckily nothing of great value was in there. There was an AirTag. We have been to this (fairly busy) location a few times since and could never seem to find the wallet (or at least the AirTag). It still pops up on our other Apple devices as we’ve never deleted it. That part is fine, really. We laugh about it now. It is in lost mode and shows my phone number if anyone picks it up and holds it to their iPhone. Maybe one day we’ll get it back.

the actual problem is, for a while I gave out a link in case someone else found it. Recently it expired and now I get these reoccurring notifications that I can’t seem to get rid of completely. The device is no longer sharing a link, but it is still in lost mode. I don’t want to take the AirTag off my account because I like to see it’s still working. Here’s the message

“Location link for (name)’s Wallet expired” is the main line

”People who open the link will no longer be able to see the location” is the subtext.

my options are to open it which just takes me to the Find My screen with the device’s info. And then there’s an options button which I’ve also tried to use. Even notifications doesn’t seem to have my solution so I came here. Thank you!

To stop unwanted AirTag tracking notifications on your iPhone, you can either disable "Item Safety Alerts" entirely, or temporarily pause notifications for a specific AirTag. To disable alerts for a particular AirTag, open the Find My app, select the "Items" tab, choose the specific AirTag, and then tap "Pause Safety Alerts"

Open the Find My app: Locate and open the Find My app on your iPhone

Navigate to Items: Tap on the "Items" tab at the bottom of the screen.

Select the AirTag: Choose the specific AirTag for which you want to disable notifications.

Pause Safety Alerts: Scroll down and tap on "Pause Safety Alerts". You may have options to pause for a specific duration (like "today") or indefinitely.

Disable Item Safety Alerts: Alternatively, to disable all Item Safety Alerts, go to Settings > Notifications > Find My and toggle off "Allow Notifications". Then, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Find My and toggle off "Allow Location Access"

Consider Trusted Locations: If you want to prevent notifications for a specific AirTag in certain locations, you can add those locations as trusted locations in the Find My app.
