"Dodgy" refurbished iPhone 12 Pro 256gb

I have been supplied a white "refurbished", iPhone 12 Pro 256gb, by Reebelo in lieu of the Pacific Blue one I ordered because they couldn't supply it with a new battery and still see the battery health, but according to Apple advertising the iPhone 12 pro was never available in white, only silver, gold, graphite and pacific blue. How is a white iPhone 12 Pro possible?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 18

Hello!

Apple didn’t make a white iPhone 12 Pro.

Who did you buy this device from? Are they an official Apple Store or Apple Authorized Reseller?

When you go to: Settings > General > About > Model Name, what does it say?

This Reebelo appears to be an online marketplace. The question might not be whether they are an Apple Authorized Reseller, but whether the particular marketplace seller from whom the OP bought the device is.

Reebelo – About Us

Then there is this page. They talk about how the "high-quality parts" that their vendors use may "prompt some messages on the latest Apple devices stating 'Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine...' … try to reassure the reader that these components work "as efficiently as the original." – and go on to say "As you may know, only an Apple Genius Bar or an Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace a component in the latest iPhones without prompting these messages."

Reebelo – Are the devices genuine?

----------

Back to the bottom line: Was the seller an official Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller? Was this phone "refurbished" by someone other than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, in which case, Apple itself would probably be unwilling to touch the phone in the future?

What do you think?

I can recall a number of posts on this site from users claiming that they got a "white" phone when they ordered silver, yet Apple never offered a white iPhone 12.

I’d guess that was an iPhone 12 Pro in a white-looking silver, as iPhone 12 was available in white.

About the time that the iPhone 12 was introduced, I can recall a number of posts on this site from users claiming that they got a "white" phone when they ordered silver, yet Apple never offered a white iPhone 12.

The only way it is possible is if it were "refurbished" by an unauthorized party using non-Apple parts.

Sorry, but if that's the case, your phone is completely unsupported and untouchable by Apple.

Thanks for that, what I now think and I would appreciate your further comments.

The only way that the white iPhone 12 Pro that I received from Reebelo could

exist (in Sept 2024), with a battery that does show the battery health, and the supposedly “new” battery has degraded to 86% capacity in less than 6 months is:

  • Reebelo supplied me a genuine iPhone 12 Pro 256gb;
  • That iPhone 12 Pro had had the rear face cracked or broken and Reebelo’s “refurbisher” repaired it with a white rear face from a 3rd party supplier;
  • That iPhone had a genuine Apple battery, otherwise the iPhone would NOT at the time have been able to display the battery health which was I recall at 98%;
  • That Apple battery had been “recalibrated” by cycling it to make it appear to have near 100% battery health, which lasts for a while but does not actually achieve a 100% capacity.

It is this last point that I have read about but need an expert opinion.

cheers

Terry
