Does AirPods Max warranty start from purchase date or activation date?

Hi I want to buy AirPods Max from eBay and when I search the serial number it says that the guarantee expires on the 3rd of February 2026. However the box is sealed indicating it hasn’t been opened. Does this mean that the guarantee began on the day it was purchased or is the serial number fake.

According to the Apple Warranty documentation, the warranty starts when Apple sold the product:

...

Your Apple-branded or Beats-branded hardware product (“Product”) is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase
