Can I use an Apple Pencil to write on the Magic Trackpad (with the Trackpad acting as a graphics tablet) to annotate PDFs on a MacBook?

Short answer: No.

A bit longer answer: Unfortunately, you can't use the Apple Pencil directly with the Magic Trackpad or a MacBook. The Apple Pencil only works with compatible iPads that have the appropriate display hardware and digitizer needed to sense the Pencil’s pressure, tilt, and touch input. The Magic Trackpad, while highly sensitive to touch gestures and even Force Touch, simply isn’t built to detect Apple Pencil input.
