Taking contactless payments on IPAD

Why does the ipad not have the same capability as iphone to take contactless payments. Will this ever be possible and is it a hardware or a software feature?

Lacks the hardware to do so. NFC hardware for contactless payment.

It's a hardware issue.

Unknown, Apple does not disclose plans ahead of time, so it's impossible to know whether they'll add it in the future or not.

You can of course suggest the option to Apple at the following website. click here ➜ Feedback - iPad - Apple

What payment system are you using? If it's Square, they have a contactless unit for that. It connects to your iPad/Square app via Bluetooth. It also has a slot for dipping.

There are lots of them for sale on eBay for much less than the $59 on Square's site. And no, they don't get locked to whomever was using it before.

All of this info is useless if you're not using Square, but you didn't give us any information.
