Alleged Purchase Linked to My Account

I received a text from an iCloud account, (e******@icloud.com), saying that my account was linked to a purchase via Apple Pay in an Apple Store across the country (I do not have Apple Pay set up) and that purchase was put on hold and that I should contact Apple Support for further protection and details. Is this legitimate, and if it is, what do I do?

Common phishing text.

It’s spam.

Ignore it.

Purchases and fraud detection do not work as that text claims, either. Detected fraud is blocked until and unless you release the payment with your payment provider.

If you’re still concerned about this, contact the payment provider directly, and not byusing any contact info or phone numbers or links in the questionable text or mail message.
