How do I stop iPhone from connecting to Wi-Fi automatically?

• Make sure WiFi Assist is turned on at Settings > Cellular.
• For the WiFi connections that your phone connects to, turn off Auto-Join.
• Make sure Auto-Join Hotspots is not set to Automatic at Settings > Wifi.

Here's how to stop Iphone from automatically connect to wifi:

• Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose blue icon (i) on the right of that wifi > untick auto-join.

OK. Have you opened Settings > Cellular > is Cellular Data turned on? Then tap Show All and make sure the switch is on for everything you'd want to be able to use Cellular Data.

In Settings -> WiFi.

I'm not sure why you don't want your phone to use the strongest connection it can? This is what your phone is designed to do. If Wifi is stronger, your phone will connect to Wifi. If Wifi isn't strong and cellular would be better, your phone will switch to cellular. And as an FYI, when you open Settings > Wifi - your phone will always be scanning for available networks. This is also normal.

Are you saying that you never want your iPhone to select a given or specific Wi-Fi network or networks?

For what it's worth, a Wi-Fi connection......assuming that your router is working correctly......will far outperform a cellular connection.

When Wi-Fi and cellular data are both enabled, and there is no available “known” Wi-Fi network, and there is cellular service, the phone will automatically switch to cellular Internet service.

No need to manually flip the Wi-Fi switch on and off, unless the phone gets confused and you are giving it a “kick” to get things going again.
