AirPods Pro disconnect immediately after removal from case on iPhone 16 Pro Max

Hi! My AirPods Pro connect to my iPhone 16 Pro Max but disconnect immediately when I remove them from the case. I’ve tried everything – reset, sensor cleaning, turning off automatic ear detection, etc. Nothing helps. Could this be a firmware or hardware issue?

Sometimes, if the AirPods have been pairing ok before:

ensuring the AirPods are well-charged, and restarting the iPhone may restore order,

For disconnection problems: There might be interference with other wireless devices.

Else, if it isn't already installed:

Your iPhone 16 Pro Max may need to have the newest iOS version update.:

About iOS 18 Updates - Apple Support says::iOS 18.5 is the latest, and:

"This update introduces ... features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone"

__________ NB: Please remember it is wise to back up iPhone first, if updating iOS

For AirPods:

You may need to find out which type / generation of AirPods they are: Identify your AirPods - Apple Support

You can easily check whether or not the AirPods have up-to-date firmware:

(They should update automarically in the right environment, if iPhone's iOS version is up-to-date,)
