Activation Lock Issue After Accidental iTunes Sync – Need Help Regaining Access to My Apple ID Setup
Dear Apple Support,
I’m experiencing a serious issue involving Activation Lock, and I urgently need assistance regaining access to a device I’m currently using.
On July 4th, 2025, I set up an iPhone that was lent to me by my cousins using my Apple ID: mail@gmail.com. I completed the setup successfully and have the confirmation email from Apple as proof.
A few days later, while using iTunes, my sister accidentally synced her iPhone with mine. Her device was originally given to her by our aunt in Belgium—unfortunately, she does not have the original receipt or box, and she no longer remembers the Apple ID password associated with that device.
As a result of the iTunes sync, her Apple ID has somehow locked itself onto my phone, and neither of us can now access our phones properly. We are currently facing the following issues:
- My phone is Activation Locked under her Apple ID, even though I had set it up using my own Apple ID
- Her phone is also Activation Locked and unusable
- I can no longer back up, update, or download apps on the phone I was using
- She is unable to recover her Apple ID or password to remove the lock
This has left us both locked out of devices we were previously using without issue. I fully understand Apple’s security measures around Activation Lock, but I hope there is a way to restore access to both phones under their rightful usage, especially since I can provide:
- My Apple ID and verification
- Proof of setup on July 4th
- Identity documentation
- Any other information needed to confirm this situation
Thank you for your time and understanding. I look forward to your help in resolving this issue.
Sincerely,
Oerios
