USB-C Headphones Not Working on iPhone 15 Pro Max (iOS 18.5)

Hi everyone,

I’m having a weird issue with my uncle’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. His Apple-certified USB-C wired headphones work perfectly fine on other devices, but on his iPhone they don’t play any audio at all. The USB-C port still charges the phone just fine. We’ve tried:

Cleaning the port

Restarting the phone

Plugging/unplugging multiple times

Updating to iOS 18.5

Testing the headphones on other devices (they work)

Looking for audio routing options in Control Center and Settings

There’s no “Forget This Device” option either when they’re plugged in, and they don’t even show up as an output device.

Is anyone else having this problem? Could this be a bug in iOS 18.5 or a hardware issue? Any advice or fix would be appreciated 🙏

Have you tried a Forced Restart (different from restarting), which can fix odd issues --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

You are wasting your time posting any message for apple here. This is a user to user ONLY forum, which Apple doesn't participate nor read for user feedback. This, however, is how you can communicate with Apple directly --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

If you don't want to try a simple Forced Restart that's up to you. A Forced Restart doesn't reset an iPhone, nor change any settings. It often fixes things as it's completely different from a simple restart. I'll not offer any further advice if you're unwilling to even try.
