CarPlay won't read messsges on a Honda CR-V 2026

It was a "Factory Data Reset" and did not seem to affect station presets. I did have to re-pair the phones but have not noticed any other losses. Just did it yesterday but I think all is good.

Just thought I would share my daughter just bought a 26 CRV hybrid and had the same issue both with a phone on iOS 18.5 and 26.2. Told her to factory reset the head unit and now it’s working correctly. Not sure if this will help others.

I agree this is very annoying. But I have learned if you say "Hey Siri, read my text" Siri will read them, you can reply to them even though it will say "what do you want to say to... and it fades off, Siri will still listen and you can send it.

It’s frustrating because it’s not the same as the 2024 CR-V and I now have the 2026 CR-V, but if you read my earlier post it even says the same thing in the car manual “press” the hands free icon on your steering wheel to turn Siri on and off. Respectfully stated, I believe the premise is more for our safety versus our frustration. Someone else mentioned stricter laws etc. If I press the hands free button and say, text “Joe” Siri will reply. If I press the hands free button and say, “read unread text messages” Siri reads my texts with no problems. I do believe there is a volume control for how loud Siri can be. I’m not exactly sure that it’s something that needs to be fixed versus something we must do differently. Change is never easy. Thank you for reading.

I am having the same issue. When I took the car in to see if they could figure it out they came to the conclusion it was an incompatibility issue between the cars infotainment iOS and the iphones iOS. The playback worked properly with android phones and later versions of the iPhone. I have a 14 plus operating on iOS 18.5.

I experienced the same issues, however when you’re finally connected to CarPlay, you can use the hands free button on the left side of your steering wheel and when you press it you can then say, text or call [insert name] and it works fine. You can then also ask read text message and this seemed to be a solution. It’s not the same as the 2024 version, but it does seem to work. There are many different settings to work through so check sound and Siri settings. Hope this helps.

I am extremely pleased to report that with the iOS 26.3 , a factory reset, and the re pairing of my phone, the Apple Car Play text messaging system seems to be working as it should!!! I must mention that this was NOT fixed by the Honda dealership, but by my daughter🤪🤨

I too had the same issue. 2026 Hybrid CRV Trailsport.

iPhone messaging would fade out before message could be finished.

I did the iOS 26.2 update this morning and the issue seems to be resolved.

2024 CRV had the same issue with iOS 26.2 not syncing CarPlay. Reseting the car's audio unit did the trick. Works well now, thanks to this thread. Earlier I had tried calling Honda, all I got from them was disconnected.

I got mine on Amazon and it does work, but I am still annoyed, frustrated, and upset about the whole issue. I have received zero support from my dealership and NO official acknowledgement from Honda.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max iOS 26.2.1 with 2026 Honda CRV EXL - The adapter didn't fix the texting issue for me :( All other functions of Apple Car Play work fine....just not the texting dictation! Super frustrating to pay for a brand new car that isn't functioning at 100% !! My dealer says it's an Apple problem because the Android phones aren't having a problem :| Can anyone confirm their response to be true??

You need a dongle adapter. Here's the one I bought for my 2019 CRV because it didn't have wireless CarPlay. When the wireless CarPOlay in my NEW 2026 CRV wouldn't work, I pulled the dongle out, got a USB AtoC adapter and it worked again no problem. Still waiting for @Honda nad @Apple to get their acts together so I can dump the dongle.

Same here. Brand new 2026 HRVEXL carplay text announcement just will not work. Opened a case with Honda thinking the more complaints they get they might fix it. I feel totally ripped off. It is nothing more than a radio at this stage. Changed and reviewed all settings no fix. Will try factory reset today but expectations are low.

i had the same car as a loaner and carplay worked just fine. That car however had a different glitch, seatbelt warning would come on for no reason. NO ONE IN THE CAR. Had to clear it 10 times then a different seat would go off. Dealer….oh yeah some have that. They issued a recall for another model (bad sensors) eventually they will for this too. WHAT????

Honda is the problem

iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18.7, CRV 2026 Sport-L purchased 2 weeks ago and I am also having this problem. I will try the adapter. @Honda and @Apple software people please help.
