iPhone randomly makes ticking/countdown sound — stops when I power off

That ticking isn’t normal and could be either software or hardware related. Since it stops when the phone powers off, it’s likely coming from inside the device.

Because it happens mostly when using Safari, start by clearing Safari’s cache and disabling background app refresh for Safari to rule out software glitches.

Make sure iOS is up to date. If the issue persists, it’s safer to get Apple Support or a Genius Bar to check for possible hardware problems.

I’m honestly not quite sure but maybe it’s a faulty Taptic Engine I doubt it but u recommend you take it to a Apple Genius Bar.

I honestly recommend you take it to Apple. From what you’ve told me all I know is that your phone is making ticking sounds. Have you checked if any media is playing, try checking your screen time to see if maybe there is an app constantly on in the back-round for a long time without you noticing. It might be one of those widget apps although I doubt it.

Someone who is smart enough (and also very rich enough) to know how to hack your phone would never be dumb enough to leave any trace of their activity.
