AirPods Pro 2 hearing test unable to classify due to background noise

Air pods pro 2 hearing test says “Unable to Classify At some point during the test, there was enough background noise that your level of hearing loss cannot be classified accurately.”

Repeatedly despite the fact that it’s totally quiet.

Commiserations! It's easy to miss some of the often-heard sounds (eg: like a plane flying overhead, distant train whistle, or bird-calls, ticking-clock, wind-chimes etc.) if your attention is elsewhere in otherwise completely quiet space.

Seems some folks have found success by getting into a wardrobe or such.

Some City Libraries and Educational Institutions have a soundproof space or recording room that can be used on request.

The real issue with the test is that Apple does not measure the background noise level. So if your hearing is too 'bad' to hear the sounds repeatedly, the system assumes that the background noise is too high and breaks off the test. In that case it might help to use your 'audiogram' to configure the AirPods Pro 2. But not everyone has an audiogram and it is sad that the test fails for people that really need it. Actually a slight variation of the test might really help the hearing impaired. Currently this system is just a gimmick for 'normal' hearing customers with slight deficiencies.
