Mac always prompts unexpected restarts when used the next day

My Mac experienced a kernel panic with the log showing: "watchdog timeout: no checkins from watchdogd in 94 seconds", and the process involved was ChatGPT. The system version is macOS 15.5 (24G84), running on Apple Silicon (Darwin 24.6.0).

Post the free EtreCheck report using the Additional Text option when posting. There is no personal information provided in the report. It will show much more information about the state of your computer that is not seen in a log file.

There are two very different approaches, especially when CleanMyMac aka BrickMyMac is installed and used on the computer

>>  Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macpaw.CleanMyMac5.Agent.plist <<

One approach, is to completely remove this application and hope for the best

This does not always work to your expectations

The other approach >>

Start Over from Scratch

Heavy Handed ? - Yes

Effective in removing CleanMyMac ? - Yes

CleanMyMac , aka “ BrickMyMac

New macOS Malware "Cthulhu Stealer" Targets Apple Users' Data

Un-Like Microsoft Windows, which does have “ Disk Cleanup “ and “ Defrag “ as part of their Operating System

Apple does not

For Apple Silicon computer >> Use Disk Utility to erase a Mac with Apple silicon.

Always make a Time Machine Backup  before  proceeding

Emphasis on User Account Only

If going this route - I suggest Not using Startup Assist to migrate everything back.

This will probably Re-Introduce (CleanMyMac , aka “ BrickMyMac “) back into the Operating System

<Log.log>

hmmm... is this a one off panic, I would ignore it unless it repeats.

note—OS version: 24G84 this macOS 15.6

you can see this from the >About This Mac> see below the serial number for the macOS v.

for repeat panic I would present this to Apple engineers for a look see

"AppleActuatorDriver" a software component, likely a kernel extension or driver, within the macOS, that controls and manages the physical actuators present in Apple devices.

"AppleTopCaseHIDEventDriver" is a driver in macOS that handles Human Interface Device events, specifically those from the built-in keyboard and trackpad on MacBooks

Kernel Panics are predominately caused by hardware faults or faulty third-party kernel extensions.

I used App Cleaner & Uninstaller to remove it. My computer has too much data, so I’ll leave it like this for now. If I were to format it, it would mean a huge amount of recovery work for me if I don’t use migration.

Choices have consequences / repercussions

They may not appear immediately but they will eventually catchup with the computer, in time

If you can live with your choice ? Proceed

The computer will never be the same once CMM has been installed and used on this machine

After this, there have been two more occurrences, almost one every day. Just now, one happened again, and I was on standby for about 10 minutes before I activated the screen saver. When I came back, I found the screen was black. Then I tried moving the mouse and keyboard, but the screen remained black. About 3 minutes later, the computer automatically restarted and popped up an unexpected restart notification.

I am now attaching the EtreCheck report.

PS: Defragmentation is a concept from hard disks, and not all that useful with SSD storage. Defragmentation was a means to compensate for incremental file growth and the very slow access and seek times inherent with moving the read-write heads and waiting for the rotating storage to all arrive together at the necessary data, while the equivalent of access and seek times are inconsequential on solid-state storage.

We seem to have lost OP

Though, do hope they will see and comprehend so of what has been offered in relations to BrickMyMac aka CleanMyMac
