iPhone 14 Pro Max Battery Health Drain

Wanted to make a complaint to you. My battery health drained from 92% to 85% in one month.

I don’t know why. I’ve looked up everything that can make a battery drain and I’ve adjusted them. But I don’t know why it keeps dropping.

its not normal.

what’s the solution?

iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 18

The solution is to wait until it is 80%, then get the battery replaced. There is no way to reverse capacity loss.

The absolute best way to get maximum use on a charge, as well as slow the decline of battery capacity long term is to enable Optimized Battery Charging (Settings/Battery/Battery Health) and charge the device overnight, every night leaving it powered on. The battery will fast charge to 80%, then pause. During the nighttime pause the phone will use mains power instead of battery power, allowing the battery to “rest”, and thus reducing the need to charge the battery quite as often. The phone will resume charging to reach 100% when you are ready to use your phone; it will “learn” your usage pattern. If you enable iCloud Backup (Settings/[your name]/iCloud - iCloud Backup) the phone will back up overnight also, assuring that you can never lose more than the current day’s updates. Make an appointment at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop to have the battery checked and tested.

If the Maximum Capacity of the battery is at 80% or less, have the battery replaced.

2 Years of use is not that bad for an iPhone 14 battery.

You can find a list of authorized service shops in your area using this link:

You can make a complaint to us. But "US" are just users on this user to user only forum. You are not complaining to Apple and Apple doesn't read here for user comments.

Battery Health decline is not linear, meaning it can remain steady for a while then drop a few points. On average, on iPhone 14 Pro Max, battery health will decline about 1% per month. It's not exact, but that's the average. How long have you owned your phone? iPhone 14 Pro Max was released in September 2022 and discontinued in September 2023. 15% decline in battery health on a phone released in 2022, would not be cause for concern at all. When the health dips to 80%, that's when it's time to pay Apple to replace the battery.

What is the cycle count in the battery health screen?
The drop in battery health is rarely linear. It may remain steady for long periods, then drop multiple points at one time.

Considering the fact that the 14 Pro Max was discontinued almost 2 years ago, 85% doesn't seem unreasonable assuming it's the original battery.

Only iPhone 15 and 16 series phones show cycle count. I had to put a sticky on my MBP to remember this!

Thanks! I wasn't aware of that. I have a 15, wife has a 16 Pro. I guess I assumed that it was iOS related, not model related.

No worries. I too believed the same until another senior member here had to point it out to me. For any iPhone lower than a 15, all we can do is ask how long they've owned their iPhone to get a sense of what a logical battery health might be.
