iPhone Battery Percentage Increases After Restart – Normal?

Hi, I noticed that when I restart my iPhone, the battery percentage increases by 1% (e.g., from 68% to 69%). Recently, my phone had been powered off or barely charged for several days. After charging, it took around 5 hours to go from 17% to 75%. Battery health shows 100% in both iOS and 3uTools, and the battery now drains normally.

A repair center told me this can happen when the phone has been off for a while — the battery cells need to stabilize with a few full charge/discharge cycles. Is this normal behavior after a deep discharge or long inactivity?

Thanks!

iPhone 16, iOS 18

The remaining charge displayed on the battery icon is a best guess estimate of the remaining charge based on what is going on with all the apps and services at the iPhone at the time.

If you power off the phone and restart, some of the things that were running before are not now currently running, so the estimate of remaining power can increase by a percentage point or two.

Frankly, I wouldn't pay much attention to this and just realize that conditions have changed after the restart.

I am using the original Apple charger and cable. I also tried another charger, but the issue remains the same. However, I tested this same charger with an iPhone 15, and it works well there. The charger is a 3-pin adapter with 20W power.

It does seem that 5 hours from 17% to 75% is too long. Keep an eye on this and see if now that the phone is powered on and you start regular charging, for example, plug in every night when you go to bed and leave it plugged in all night, if the charging speed doesn't normalize, then schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and let Apple test the phone.

Please read my post carefully

I've read both of your posts and for the life of me, I can't imagine why you made this statement? Bob Timmons provided an excellent response to your first post and then he asked what charger you're using, which you haven't answered. If your concern is how much time it takes to charge your phone, that piece of information is pretty important.
