I downloaded the 18.6 new iOS update on my iPads and cell phone and all three of them will not get on the Wi-Fi and connect the only way I can get on the Internet is on my cell phone now with out Wi-Fi turned on!! This is just awful. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I resolved mine through VPN settings as well. Verizon offers multiple VPN settings and it looks like one of them causes the iPhone to appear to disconnect from WiFi; mine probably reverted to this VPN settings after the update. My phone works with a different VPN as well as no VPN.
To fix, go to Settings>VPN. Then pick your desired VPN and ensure that it connects properly and works.
You don’t know me, but my iPhone 15 PM updated to 18.6.2 overnight and won’t connect at all to my WiFi. It’s fine on the 4G signal.
I rebooted it and no change.

If you connect to Wifi, it doesn't necessarily mean you are connected to the internet. --> Internet not available, WiFi and Cellular … - Apple Community
After the 18.6 iPad update my iPad will not stay connected to the Internet. I’ve troubleshoot everything suggested, including restarting and rebooting my Wi-Fi, rebooting, my iPad, disconnecting and reconnecting, resetting my network settings, and still I’m having trouble.
🤦♀️ I just tried to reply and my new iPad Air just restarted again. I’ve lost count how many times tonight. It was fine this morning. It won’t recognize or turn on WiFi. My full bars 5g is so slow. And my husbands phone is doing the same thing. This is an Apple issue. Have they addressed it do you know. ?
I really wish they would!!! people are saying it’s not the iOS 18.6 but it certainly is!! Never has a problem until I downloaded it!! This is awful!! Please Apple do something to fix this! I’ve never had a problem with an update in all these years! I am not scared to download updates..:-(
I updated my phone to iOS 18.1.6 this morning. I can't connect to wifi... anywhere!
I've restarted my phone multiple times, I've reset the network settings, I've restarted our router... I cannot connect to wifi... well the wifi menu says i'm connected, BUT there's no little wifi fan symbol in the top right on my phone and I am NOT connected to the internet. I can't even check for further updates because I'm not connected to the internet!!! My cellular data seems to be patchy too...
What has Apple done to my phone??? I refuse to update my laptop, work phone or iPad until this is fixed!!!
So I finally was able to turn my VPN on and connected to wifi. But this is simply not good enough that this is the case!
That’s exactly right. Apple needs to step up and provide another upgrade that fixes these internet problems. I haven’t had problems with upgrades until this one. I wonder how much attention Apples even gives to these discussions. Let’s hope.
Updated 2 phones to 18.6.2 both struggle on general WiFi now, taking ages to lock on, if it does. 5g off router is instant, but it’s the backup.. fix the problem please.. I can’t get WiFi calling in in the middle of nowhere!!! PCs ok Firesticks all fast.

Having similar issues. I didn’t install 18.6.2 immediately and now am worried that my phone might be compromised somehow? I have Photon VPN installed on my phone, but I tried switching wifi off (which switches the VPN off) and connecting to the 5G network, but still no go. Do I have to physically take the VPN app off my phone and reinstall?

Unless you are perpetually geo-shifting, an added VPN is just a way for vendors to collect personally-identified metadata and various other data in exchange for added connection overhead and negligible added security.
And if you are perpetually geo-shifting, the personally-identified metadata collection is quite possibly still active.
Some of the no-logging VPNs were caught logging a while back when the “non-existent “ logs were found exposed on the ‘net, too.
Too many VPNs are all too similar to malware, albeit with an end-user license agreement.
Nobody thinks a VPN as a massive privacy leak, and as a massive unnecessary overhead, either.
VPNs badly solve a problem* that hasn’t existed for a decade or so, but badly solve it in a way perfect for personally-identified metadata and data collection.
Outside of geo-shifting for website or CDN testing or otherwise, I wouldn’t use a VPN, and I’d expect metadata to leak when geo-shifting.
*This reply does not apply to VPNs used to access the internal networks of affiliated organizations, and which is a useful capability.
My control box is now pale yellow which I can not see what I am typing.
Update it did not fix his phone it still shuts down randomly and WiFi will not work.
