iPhone storage is not freeing up even after deleting files

So, I’ve been trying to move a whole lot of big files from my iPhone to my non-Apple laptop by compressing the file and upload it to my cloud storage. Now, when I deleted the files, it’d free up the storage but when I deleted the compressed file, the storage didn’t budge and stay the same. I tried restarting my phone and it’s still the same. I thought I was tripping but no, I’ve been trying multiple times but the compressed files wouldn’t free up the storage so basically I’m back to square one here. I got rid of the big files but the compressed files wouldn’t free up the storage. Does anybody know where those compressed files went since it didn’t free up any storage? Thanks!

When you delete files from iOS/iPadOS devices, files are initially moved to a Recently Deleted folder - from which they can be recovered for up to 30-days. Until you also delete these files from the Recently Deleted folder, they will continue to occupy local storage on your device.

The Recently Deleted folder is accessed from the Sidebar of your Files App.
