Apple Fitness+ refund request denied despite canceling same day

I forgot I had taken out a free trial for Apple Fitness+ when I purchased my first iPhone and it renewed so I cancelled the subscription and requested a refund on the same day but was denied, I appealed and it was again denied. I spoke to Support who did anything but support me and I’ve now ended up cancelling all my other Apple subscription on principle anyone have any idea why Apple are being so stubborn?

I understand this as meaning Apple is starting from a point where any refund is considered an exception. Apple may provide a refund but can also simply say no without having to provide a reason. I understand this can be frustrating but by using the service you agree to the terms. Apple may provide a refund on a compassionate basis but repeated requests may fall under the next section:

- "From time to time, Apple may suspend or cancel payment or refuse a refund request if we find evidence of fraud, abuse, or unlawful or other manipulative behavior that entitles Apple to a corresponding counterclaim." Remember that Apple has no way of removing a purchase from your device. They have to trust you are being honest when asking for a refund. It may be certain refund requests might be considered suspicious or excessive.

When you sign up for any free trial including Fitness+, you see the message on the screen where you double click the side button to authorize the charge. The message says to cancel at least a day before the end of the trial period to avoid charges. At times, Apple may provide a compassionate refund for any purchase, but it should never be expected. Apparently Apple has already issued you refunds in the past, but that does not mean you should continue to ignore the message you saw and will always receive the refund.
