Every time I try to download something, it says that unable to purchase and that it’s not compatible with the iPad

Apple moved on from 32-bit processors to 64-bit processors a LONG time ago, and I'm not sure if 32-bit devices can still access the App Store. There wouldn't be much in there for them, if they could.
It's time to replace that first-generation iPad mini with a much newer iPad.
That iPad mini is a 32-bit iPad model sold from 2012 to 2015, and tops out at iOS 9.
Vanishingly few apps will support a 32-bit iPad as far back as that iPad mini.
Current version for supported 64-bit iPad models is iPadOS 18.

I went looking for the current published minimums for the App Store, and couldn’t find them. IIRC, it was iOS 10.
