Front camera not working after iOS 18.6 update on iPhone 12 mini

The front camera is not working for Face ID or in any app. When I try to switch to the front camera in the Camera app, it automatically switches back to the rear camera

1. Update iPhone 12 mini to iOS 18.6.

2. Launch Camera app.

3. Tap flip-camera (front/back) icon.

4. Camera view remains on rear view—front camera never activates.

5. Attempt switch again—still no response.

Force your iPhone to restart:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo (this might take longer than 10 seconds).

If that doesn’t work, then unfortunately what you have described could be a possible hardware failure that occurred just after a software update.

While this is unfortunate, it is not uncommon.

However, only an Apple Genius can review the cause and provide a complete solution.

Therefore, I recommend service.
