eSIM not activating on refurbished iPhone 15 with Swiss carrier

I bought an iPhone 15 refurbished from Amazon and it won’t let us activate the esim from Swiss carrier. We were abroad in Spain and purchased a pay as you go esim and no issue.

the carrier in CH is telling us that it is not a problem at their end but the esim won’t activate.
