iPhone not connecting to Wifi

Since Wednesday my iPhone 16 Pro Plus will not connect to Wifi but other devices are working fine. My ISP insists the problem does not lie with them and suggest reaching out to Apple.

My ISP insists the problem does not lie with them and suggest reaching out to Apple.

And we simply pointed out that you were not reaching out to Apple. You are reaching out to other users. If you don't want other users to try to help, then you should contact Apple directly using this link: Official Apple Support

You also told us that the phone would not connect to Wi-Fi. It will connect to Wi-Fi based on your screenshot.

So, if you want us to try to help, you will need to do some troubleshooting to find out why it will not connect to the Internet.

We assume that you have already powered down your Wi-Fi router and then restarted it and you have also powered off the iPhone and restarted.

The first test would be to take the phone down to the coffee place or a restaurant that provides Wi-Fi service and see if the phone can get an Internet connection that way. This will tell us whether you have a Wi-Fi problem in general or whether you have a Wi-Fi problem only on your Wi-Fi network. Once we know the answer to that question, we'll know where to go next.

Please post back on your results.

If your iPhone can’t detect a specific 5GHz Wi-Fi network, it might be because your router’s security settings are causing it. Many routers have a feature called MAC address filtering, which lets or blocks devices based on their unique MAC addresses.

Your iPhone’s MAC address might not be in the router’s whitelist, preventing it from connecting to the 5GHz network. Alternatively, it might be in the blacklist, blocking access to that network.

Contact your service provider or the router installer to check the settings and confirm your iPhone’s MAC address is listed correctly. Provide them with your iPhone’s current MAC address by navigating to Settings > Wi-Fi, selecting the “i” icon next to your connected network, and locating the “Wi-Fi Address.”

If you have Private Wi-Fi Address enabled, inform the agency not to use your iPhone’s MAC address for filtering. Instead, use the Private Wi-Fi MAC address.

This issue seems to be related to the router’s configuration, not your iPhone.

This is a user-to-user site. We are all users here......just like you. Apple is not here. They will not see your post or reply.

If you want other users to try to help, please answer the questions below:

Can the iPhone 12 "see" the Wi-Fi network and connect, but not get an Internet connection?

Or, can the iPhone 12 "see the Wi-Fi network, but not connect to it?

Or, can the iPhone 12 not even "see" the Wi-Fi network at all?

Check if your device is connected to the internet. There are a few steps you can take to verify the connectivity of your device.

You may test the internet connectivity in two ways...

Firstly, you can open a web browser on your device. When you open a web browser, the initial page that loads is typically based on your browsing history or cookies. To further confirm the connection, you can tap on any link on that website. If the link opens and displays the corresponding content, it confirms that your device is indeed connected to the internet. See the pic below

Check your WiFi Router / Modem for --> Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points ...

Connecting to Wifi is the first part, and then getting connected to the Internet is the second

  1. If you connect to Wifi, it doesn't necessarily mean you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to wifi could be a problem with iPhone settings or Router/Modem Settings
  2. If you are not connected to the internet is the sole issue of Router / Modem Settings. Contact your ISP immediately

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency that issued the SIM to you
  • Over WiFI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you
