How do I update the Billing -- Not Shipping -- Address(es) on my account.

There is the shipping address and then there is the billing address.

These are two potentially different addresses.

So far the answers to how to update the billing address only provide an option to update the shipping address.

In my case, both addresses are actually the same.

However, when I moved and updated my address, it only updated my shipping address.

I did not see then -- and do not see now -- a way to also update my billing address.

I am only aware of this because of using Apple Pay to purchase and then getting a receipt with the wrong billing address but the correct shipping address.

Your post is a bit confusing. This is the apple Account forum, but you are referring to Apple Pay. Which is it? Those are 2 different things and will have different ways of modifying billing addresses. Though in both cases billing addresses are tied to the specific payment method, not your account in general.

If you made a purchase using Apple Pay, then your Apple Account's payment methods are not involved and a such any billing addresses there are not relevant to the purchase.

To edit Billing Addresses for Apple Pay, you open the Wallet App, select a card or payment method there, tap on the (...) icon at the top, and then on Billing Address. You can choose a different one from the ones listed, edit them by tapping on Edit at the top, and then on a specific address you wish to change, or add a new one by tapping on "Enter new Billing address".

If this is in relation to purchases made with payment methods on your Apple account in Apple's online stores like iTunes, App Store, Books Store etc... then you can change the billing address for the specific payment method used in Settings ➜ Account ➜ Payment & Shipping ➜ Tap a Payment Method ➜ Tap Edit.

When I went to post a question, “Apple Account” was a suggested tag and “Apple Pay” was not, so I chose “Apple Account.” It was not obvious to me that Apple Pay account was not an attribute of Apple account, so here we are under the wrong topic. Sorry.

Thanks for the info and link regarding Apple Pay!

When I searched for “change billing address”, all I got back were answers for updating Apple Account, not Apple Pay. It appears that the only way to update Apple Pay billing addresses is to use the “Wallet” app — which does not exist at all on my 2025 Mac Studio. Apparently not possible via “Apple Pay” settings or via the Apple Pay website using Safari on my Apple desktop, i.e., not possible at all from my Apple desktop. Not obvious that this would be the case. Thanks again for the info and link! Wallet worked once it was finally revealed to me that this was my only option.

Apple Pay exists on a Mac in System Settings ➜ Wallet & Apple Pay as explained in the link I posted above, but again, this is used for payments to 3rd party websites in the case of a Mac. It is not involved in purchased made from Apple's online stores.

  • Mac with Touch ID: In System Settings (or System Preferences), click Wallet & Apple Pay, click the card whose address you want to change. Then click the Billing Address menu.

The Wallet App only exists on an iPhone though.

And I just remembered: Similar issue with Apple Store app ordering when I moved. Yet another place to update addresses and it kept trying to send product to my old address -- forcing me to order from my desktop to have products delivered to the correct address. IIRC, I had to update that address on an Apple website (or was it MacOS "settings"?) and could not update it on my phone using the Apple Store app.

IMO, there should be an FAQ: "Just moved? Here are all the places that Apple stores your address that you will need to update."

That would have saved me several hours of needless trying and re-trying alternatives.
