My Face ID has been broken since buying this phone from the Apple Store. I have tried everything. nothing is blocking my camera and I have tried resetting my phone and all that is listed on apple support. I’m starting to think this may be a hardware issue but would like to get other points of view before I take it the shop!

If Face ID hasn't worked since you bought the phone from the Apple Store, WHY didn't you take it back when you bought it? iPhone 12 was discontinued by Apple in nearly 2 years ago and your phone is no longer covered by warranty. Apple is not going to give you warranty support at this point.

When did you buy it? It sounds like a hardware problem. the warranty is one year from the original date of sale.
The iPhone 12 was discontinued almost 2 years ago.
