In most cases all transactions are final. At times, Apple may provide a compassionate refund and it is not unusual to receive a partial refund.

If you give anyone your Passcode to your device, you are authorizing them to use it and if you do not want them to make purchases with that Passcode, then you have to prevent that from happening. Katana-San provided a very easy solution to preventing a person with the Passcode from making purchases, and there are even additional ones you can take using Screen Time:

  • Remove the App Store - Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Installing Apps, and change that to "Don't Allow". The App Store will be hidden, so the child cannot use it to purchase any apps.
  • Prevent In-App Purchases - To prevent any in-app purchases from a game your child is playing on your device, you can also go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > In-App Purchases, and change that one to "Don't Allow".

Use Screen Time to turn off in-app purchases on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

It is your device and is protected with your credentials. You are responsible for the actions taken when you let someone else use it. The tools are available for you to control what can be done, but they have to be used by you.

Change your passcode, and change all passwords, due to the security breach here.

Among the more recent of these, that $10 would have been cheap, given the cancelled subscriptions, the deleted mail, deleted data, deleted (precious!) photos, and repairs and cracks from drops and dunks and other mishaps, as well as other mayhem.

One of the folks was fond of handing aniPad to a little one I’d previously witnessed shredding eyeglasses and other equipment. That all ended as expected; badly.

You can put purchases behind passcodes and other steps as suggested above, but more than a few of the little people already have the passcode, or can or will soon regain it. And if they’re aware of the device passcode, they’re probably soon also aware of the local password store.

As for the reimbursement, the decision that the folks that work for Apple make is theirs and theirs alone, and is final.
